Trying to fix my car from it's current problem (see my other post) I was looking by the drivers side in front of the door and found a square opening and on the lower part of that opening is a can about the size of a US quarter and about 3'' tall. It has a red rubber cap that you can press down on.

Can anyone tell me what it is? What does it do? Should you press the red cover or is that a fail-safe button?

 

are you talking about the fuel inertia switch???

 

Well I really don't know. I'll try to take a picture. I looked in JTIS and could not find it.

I think you're right about the fuel inertia switch. I notice the writing "RESET" next to it.

Due to rain etc I can't look but I can say that the inertia switch is covered in the handbook so have a look in that.

jagv8, On page 6-1 it had the function but not the picture, you're right it's the inertia switch.
