Default 03 S-type..Heat on full blast when AC should be on

I looked at an 03 Stype V8 today. The AC is on and the heat is on full blast. So my guess is the water diverter valve is stuck open allowing hot water to flow continuously through the heater core. The unusual thing is that the heat was stronger on the passenger side than the driver side vents.
Any thoughts?

Don't be so sure. I replaced my heater valve and climate control mod. and nothing changed. It could also be low voltage to the heater valve causing it to not fully close.

Want to tell us some more Badmojo?

If you changed the valve and control what was creating the problem?

Well I still haven't solved it yet. Air blows cold sometimes and hot sometimes and half and half other times. I have not done a voltage check yet but when i do I will post the results. The dealer wanted roughly 2800.00 to do this "experiment" of changing the valve and module with no guarantee it would work. So glad i did it myself for about 200.00. I don't feel so bad.
Will keep you posted.

the dccv is the hot water valve right? This car is blowing hot as hell all the time like the valve is stuck open. The AC system is operating as it should, the compressor is running and the suction line is cool. What module are you guys talking about?

Yes the DCCV is the dual coolant control valve, it is the usual problem, the module is the control unit in the dash it is fairly common that when the valve fails it causes an overload on the module which can burn a trace.
Look in the FAQ's for full details and solutions.

Just had my CCM repaired today (read my new thread). Along with burnt tracers, it also had a toasted transistor. Now all is well.

so you guys think I should just go ahead and replace the hot water valve first and see where I am after that?

First replace the DCCV (hot water valve).

If the DCCV is bad and has taken out the CCM, it will take out the CCM again if not changed......

Gappa, alittle off topic here but.... If you head over to the "new member section" and introduce yourself, you will be upgraded to full member status. You would then be able to enjoy ALL benefits from this site.

There are quite a few threads with pictures about the DCCV and the CCM.

What part of SC are you located?

thanks joyce, I am in bluffton SC right off Hilton Head Island. I will do that.
this is for a customers car, I usually don't work on Jags but I guess I am up for a challenge. Jaguar seems to do things somewhat differently than other manufacturers. I only do the refrigeration or HVAC in vehicles.

The S-Type strikes me as like so many other cars with (dual zone) a/c (well, c/c). What did I miss?

Best bet would be to go ahead and change the valve and then you can see what's up with the module.
If you don't have a valve yet, it is the same as the Ford YG378 part which will be cheaper than if it says Jaguar on the box.

I don't know if you will be able to view pictures yet as a newbie, just google the part number I gave earlier and do an image search.

However the valve does have two cylinders and lives down at the bottom left hand side (from the front of the car) of the radiator, two hoses run up the inside of the wing and the other comes from the main cooling circuit.

To be clear, the recent repair of my CCM did not involve burnt tracers, just one burnt transistor.
