Default 04 S Type Fog Light Issue

Can anyone tell me if they've had this problem before and why this happened? I just put new bulbs in and diagnosed that the fog light relay was bad and that's why they didn't work. Put everything back together, had them on and the backs of the housing melting right off. Thanks
