Default DSC not available - Unable to start engine

Hello everybody,

New on the forum; French lover of English cars since 1965 but I don't speak English fluently especially with car vocabulary.

I have a problem with my Type S Jaguar. The lights were not switching off automatically as usual when I power off the car. So I look around to see if a relay was not stuck. As I didn't find the solution to this initial problem, I started to search for a fuse which will switch off my lights.

I unplugged and replugged the F3 fuse in the "coffre a bagages" (back boot ?) fuse box. Now I unable to start the engine.

I have 2 messages when I turn the key on :
- "Anomalie ABS" which means roughly "ABS error"
- "DSC non disponible" which is "DSC not available"

Anything that I can do to reset the system and be able to run the car ?

Thanks in advance for your help.
Best regards.
Hervé

Often, those mean an old or flat (= poor charge) battery. It might need a charge or it may need to be replaced. Measure the voltage after the car has been off for at least 8 hours. Voltage should be about 12.6V.

I tried to start with cables connected from my battery to the battery of another car. Result was identical.
Does it could mean that the battery is not the problem ?

PATS - Passive Anti-Theft System.

Look at the small red light that is in the middle of the defroster panel between the dashboard and the windshield. If that's flashing the car will crank but will not start.

You really need to try a new battery. Jumping is not a full test. Can you take the battery out and bring it someplace to get it tested?

You need to be more clear? Does the engine turn over and not start? Or will the engine not turn over with the key?

Thanks Clubairth1 for your answer. The red light is not blinking.

When I turn the key to the second position, I have the messages in french equivalent to "ABS error" and "DSC not available". Then if I turn the key to start, I just have noise like cloc cloc and nothing seams to turn.
Today it's our National Day and it will be difficult to have the battery tested but I will do it on Tuesday.

Problem temporary solved this morning, using a booster. The engine start and all messages cleared. After a short trip of 30 mn, I tried to shutdown and restart. It worked well. So definitively, it a battery problem. I will have to change it very soon.
Thanks to all for your help.

Good! It sounded like the battery. Be sure and get the proper replacement. Do you know about vented batteries?

Need to make sure the vent is hooked up. I like the Bosch battery. It has two vents and comes with a plug so you can swap the vent to whatever side you need and then plug the opposite vent.

Bosch #49-850B, SKU #9073755 and UPC#028851558457

I have found using a Ctek charger overnight , every week or so, to fully charge/condition the battery works well. However I also carry a humungous portable jump start thing in my boot. Had to use it once or twice (I do short trips)
