On my 2002 Jaguar S type it was a lot easier to do that than on my 2004. In fact I don't even know how to do it. I see the trip a/ mileage odometer reset buttons on the lower left side of the dash, but how do I access the mileage calculations?

 

Push the knob on the end on the turn indicator, this will sequentially change the readout on the dash.

 

And by all means read the handbook LOL
