19' xj sabre vs 20' sentas on 05 str
I found a really good deal on 19' sabre wheels from an xj. I can buy a set of 20' chrome senta's for a little bit cheaper. Which set you think would look better on an str offset and width are the same.

The XJ's Sabre (non "R" code) wheels are narrower than the stock 05 STR's 8.5" front and 9.5" rear wheels...will this yield the appearance of a rather enemic looking STR?

Yea if i had the stock wheels I wouldn't be looking for wheels at all. I have some aftermarket 18x8 rims which is the whole reason im looking for different options. I can't find the 19 barcelona rims that i can afford.

Take a look too at some of the XF wheels. I put the Cygnus wheels from an 09 XF on mine and the look pretty sharp!
Last bit of advise is stay away from staggered. You cannot rotate the staggered wheels so you end up replacing tires more often...
Just my 2 cents...

I know this thread is kind of dated but have to make a correction for the OP's sake. Even on XJR's the Sabres are the same size all the way around as no 308 XJs use a staggered set up.
Wider rears will be accomplished by XK Sabres though that use a staggered set up.
Go with the chrome sentas 20" I have 19" Jupiter oem silver which are simular to sentas but I like chrome better, this spring I will be changing to senta 20" chrome and selling my 19" jupiters.Do you mind telling us where you are looking at the sentas and the price . Bernie
I was going to buy them from usarim.com. There 1000 to get them in an unstaggered setup. I ended up buying the sabre wheels because it was a better deal and they were brand new in the box also. Kinda would have wished i woulda just forked up the extra money and went with the barcelona wheels.
I think STR cars should stick to factory staggered setups to preserve a good appearance and fitment. This limits our wheel choices to what came stock on your STR, or finding a different design 18" STR wheels, or the 19" barcelona STR wheels. Or of course, custom one-off built to order forgestar, HRE, etc style wheel which are typically very expensive.
All you non-R cars, you guys have plenty of handsome 18-19-20" choices available to pick from the XJ and XF cars. Those 8" wide pizza cutters all around are a good and economical choice.
Majority of the aftermarket wheel options for the s-type's are all 8" wide too, and in most cases look like total-crap, chrome'd-out welfare-specials from the flea market that don't suit the car at all and stick out like a sore thumb.
The OEM options from the XJ XF cars can be found plenty cheap and are subtle upgrades to what looks like factory equipment, so you don't end up looking like you've arrived to the party wearing clown shoes.

Yea If my car had the vulcan wheels it came with i wouldn't have even considered an upgrade other than the barcelona's. The sabre and senta wheels are 8.5's wide and with a 49mm offset. Which are imo the only wheels that would possible look good and have an oem look on a str. I can pretty much run the same tires sizes too as oem for the same performance. I think the sabre wheels will look really good on my car. I'll post pics.
.5inch off Which isn't too much. The stock str has 9 rear staggered wheels. Plus with the lower offset it'll look just as good. Might not be the best but 275's would easily fit on an 8.5" wheel just like a 285 would fit on the stock str 9" wheel. Its kinda funny that older xjr's only had 255's in the rear and they out accelerated the str according to the mags. 4.8 0-60 vs 5.1

The ones you pictured on the left look like they belong on a boat(XJ) and should never be placed on the STR, the ones on the right are very nice though.
I love my stock 18's although there chipped up a bit. 275 rear and 255 front just gives the handling so much more stick, plus WOT you would get alot of wheel spin on thin tires i presume because my 275's have trouble staying grounded.
