where can i get a proper workshop manual for my 1999 4l v8 s type all i can find is manuals for 2001 models an upwards

 

Have you tried using the JTIS from the stickies?

 

1999-2002 (well, 2002.5MY, VIN M45254) are the same models and use the same workshop manual (JTIS).

The later models also use that but different parts of it.

Really the only thing different is the steering system (pump and rack).

I can't think of many other things that are different from any X200 MY up to 2002.

I just installed a good-used 2000MY 4.0 engine into a 2002MY S-Type. All plugged up and worked normally after the PAS pump swap.

As JagV8 stated.....

The X202 (From VIN M45255) are completely different cars with MANY differences from the X200 (To VIN M45254).

You need to find the correct manual.

In the JTIS you have to give the year of your car. Did you download a manual that was for the post facelift such like the one available from Jagrepair.com.
