Good Evening, I own a 2000 S-type, very happy with car, on sunday after fillup with gas. I forgot toclose gas cap securely. After driving several miles on monday, car began to tremble "Cat caught the flu" and thisprovoked check engine light to come on.I resecured gas cap and have been using car everyday. Sometimes car trembles but has never stalled.Problem seems to be correcting with gas consumption and time, like the flu. Is there a way of clearing the check engine light without hearing the "doomsday diagnosis" and priceat the jaguar dealer to clear the check engine light?

Hi, took vehicle to autozone. Code was P0303. On return home vehicle flashed intermitently check engine light yet turned off. They gave me a list of probable causes to include spark plug or wiresat cylinder#3. Any helpful suggestions.
Cylinder 3 misfire is the P0303 code. I would look at ignition coil before anything else. If your coils have yellow/green labels on top they are old coils and I would replace them all. You didnt state how many mile on your vehicle, but plugs are 100k and normally last that long. Coils are know issue and there are no wires as in conventional cap and rotor vehicle.
Unfortunately Cyl 3 is on the passenger side of the engine rear most cylinder which means removing the intake manifold to get to it. However on the bright side, while you are there, you should replace the lower breather hose. Your car will run far better after these repairs are made.
Hope this helps.

Doesn't change the fact that it is more than likely a coil issue.
The fuel smell however may.
You smell it from the exhaust? From sitting in drivers seat? Head under the hood?

hello, thanks for your guidance and info. Got car fixed by localjag.tech. Diagnostic was correct. One happy kitty. We installed iridium spark plugs and ignition coils$$$.I'm planning to put AMS Oil for next oil change or is just any synthetic oil good. For the record, I appreciate all the info on this forum cause it did save me big bucks. AUTOZONE did the Check engine diagnostic withtheir machine for FREE.
