Default 2001 S-Type Radio Replacement

Afternoon enthusiast! Nice to see a site that caters to the name.

After looking at a few threads, I didn't see any direct answers, However is it possible to replace the Stock Radio in my S-type with a more current deck that will support bluetooth/NAV/aux input. Current radio shop here said that airbag light runs through the radio.

Any Links or references to look at would be most helpful.

Thanks

Russ

I think they're wrong on the airbag. You can get the electrical guide from this site as part of JTIS or on its own from JagRepair.com - Jaguar Repair Information Resource then check who's right.

I don't think many people have tried to do much to your era car along the lines you mention but check the existing threads...

Yes. Many threads on this because you have a wide range of options. It also depends on which audio system you currently have in your car.

Search for stereo upgrade and similiar to see what's been done.

Thanks Jag and I'll try to remain optimistic... hopefully we somebody has already gone through this.... Hate to dash wifes hopes.... y'know, happy wife happy life sortof thing... I can't image that such a car line would be absent without the ability to upgrade of some sort.

Have you searched thoroughly and looked in the audio section USA Southern MidWest - AR LA MS KY TN AL - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum
the UK jaguar forum may also be helpful, don't forget that new member intro in all the excitement.

I am also interested. I have the GSM phone in my S now but of course it doesn't work. Have the CD changer in the rear and the NAV system also. read lots of threads but most were forn 03 or newer, so wasn't sure if any 01's had tried to get the bluetooth installed or how to go about doing it.

Well to start off do you have navigation?

Maybe post a picture of the current radio set up. It matters what you have when starting out.

My specific requirements are that
1. I lose no steering wheel functionality(aka, controls work)
2. I lose no channeling functionality(aka, all the speakers are working correctly in their zone)

I have found a UK vendor who has a harness for this car. Waiting to receive it and get it checked out. I will let you know what that part is and WHO to get it from. They were familiar with the S-type issues regarding radio or at least appeared to be so.

I have, installed it roughly 5 years ago and I'm about to swap it again for a newer model, all of your points above for what u require depend on the factory installed radio.

Is it premium sound, do you have sat nav already?

I don't know how they would tie it into a new radio as I think the speakers are fed from a separate amplifier, interesting to find out though!
