Hey all. New member here. Just bought a 2002 (early) 3.0l S-type with 142000 kilometres (about 88000 miles). Have been reading up and am familiar with the transmission issues these have. I found the following TSB info...

Just curious if this actually works to fix the harsh shifting or if my trans is going to spontaneously detonate? Thanx!

Hi Allen. Your Jag has the Ford 5 speed trans. Is it acting up? Read up on past threads on the Ford 5 speed.

 

Hard to say whether it is acting up or normal for this transmission. Only had the car for 2 weeks. Shifting is sluggish under some conditions and shutters a bit going into 5th. Certainly doesn't shift as well as my Volvo 850. I know this is a common problem, just looking to what the fix (if any) is. I know about the PCM flashing but don;t really want to pay the dealer if it isn;t going to work.
