i have a 00 v6 s-type and im about to take off the cats and put straight pipes to the mufflers. has anyone done this. basically a straight pipe all the way thru. muffler to keep sound down.
Here's what you need to do to get the most HP gains from your 3L S type, in one easy step.
Go to your local dealer and trade it in for a V-8 supercharged version.
Easy.

Or if u dont want to spend as much, just go to a shop that does cutom turbos and twin turbo the cat for about $10k. Although its most likely not goin to pass ne smogtests. But from the sounds of it, u dont really care about that, u just want to make it in to a beast. The Turbo's will do just that.
Twin turbo for 10K! Hell sign me up! Last i checked for the baby it was 7k for one with only a 30-50hp gain! Not worth it!
S type 3L auto =50-55K
one turbo or twin=10K
installation of said turbo=3K
Total cost 68K
New corvette with 425hp that will fry the tires any day of the week = 45K lol
Man I should have bought the corvette! Or a GTO or a BMW or..........lol but non of them look as sexy as my jag!

I got a quote from a shop i got to for the X, and they told me that i cud get tin turbo installed for about 8-9k. They sed that i cud get 350whp, so it wud be close to 400bhp. The most expensive part is the ECU, as it wud have to be a completely differentone from scratch.

Yeah, they sed all the other parts wud either have to be reinfored, or replaced, but that was included in the price i got from them. They did tell me that it hasnt been done on an X before, and there cud be a few issues later on as it is a first. But only a few kinks that can be easily fixed. If i didnt have a warranty on my car, or if it wasnt a daily, id prolly go for the twin turbo, as it seems to get the most power for the buck.

a single turbo can give you as much hp as you want.. a boost controller allows you to up and down the boost the turbo builds. my friend has a mazda with 16 pounds of boost. 1 pound of boost is = to 10hp 16 pounds of boost is = to 150 to 160 hp on top of your motor. a single turbo is just fine. but a twin turbo gives you the best blow off sound... and thats what its all about
you can fix up a v6 but then probably blow the engine.. and that will cost you 7-9 k.. or get a V8 ..cubic inches usually produces more power and little thing called reliabiltity.. lolol the most you can do is exhaust work... custom intake work and thats pretty much it.. and it's a v6 dont waste your time... i agree with racerx 82
Well if you dont have a V8, and all you got to work with is a V6, it can be done, and if done rite, it can be reliable and get a lot of power out of it.
