Default 2002 S-Type Ran out of Fuel

I own a 2002 S- type, I don't use it much but I start it regularly, the last time I tried to start it It didn't, so since it was low in fuel I added some fuel,
thinking that it may have run out of fuel, but sitll won't start. Is there any procedure to follow after running out of fuel in this cars? such as bleeding etc. Fuses and inertia Swtich are O.K . Thanks for any responses!

odds are with the lack of use and low fuel level - your fuel pump probably burned out requiring a replacement.

Is the fuel pump running?

If in doubt you can borrow a fuel pressure tester for free from the parts places to see what you have?

Turn ignition to run. Listen carefully for the pump to prime for about 2 seconds. Then you can check for adequate fuel pressure the cheap way. (Car MUST be cold - be careful!) Have a rag and depress the Schrader valve on the fuel rail. If fuel squirts up, odds are the pump is working. If you get dribbling or no fuel - your fuel pump is more than likely DOA

Finally, check for voltage at the fuel pump harness. With ignition turned to run / you should get at least 10.5V at the harness.

Anything less you have a battery or electrical issue. If no volts - relay, fuse or inertia switch issue.
