Default 2003 Jaguar S-Type not getting spark

I work at European Master Tech of North Miami and a customer brought a 2003 jaguar s type 3.0 manual transmission about months ago. The car was not pumping fuel so we changed the fuel pump. The car started right up. The next day it wouldn't start and we found that there was no spark and the engine had no ground. We installed a ground strap, New coils, New battery, ecm, knock sensors and spark plugs. The coils get power but don't fire. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

These vehicles do not like knock off coils. Its been very well documented here on the board. Why did you elect to replace the ecm, btw?

Codes? (Probably a question better asked before you replaced the ecm)

Are there any revs showing on the rev-counter whilst cranking?

The PCM (aka ECM) was almost certainly fine but the new one is likely not... Try the old one, then diagnose with it in.

The owner replaced the coils with after market and the ecm was replaced before I was placed on the job. I believe the old coils were taken as a core and the ecm as well. The only codes I got from the car were the knock sensors.

The only codes I pulled up were for knock sensor. No codes now. No revs during crank.

The owner doesn't know where the old ecm is. I have to assume it was returned as a core when he replaced it. I also have to mention that when the car was brought in, a lot of the wires going to the ecm were cut and I reconnected them using crimp connectors.

What a disaster. Is it any more even worth the pain and cost?

No revs whilst cranking may be indicative of failed crankshaft position sensor - or a failure in the wiring between it and the PCM, given the horror story just revealed....
