Default 2003 Power Door Lock Problem

A coworker of mine has a 2003 S-type with a door lock problem. She removes the key from the ignition, exits the vehicle, hits the lock button on the keyfob, and the doors will lock for a moment and then immediately unlock. The same thing happens if she uses the key from outside the vehicle.

Any ideas?

I know some vehicles cycle the lock in a similar fashion when attempting to lock the vehicle with a door open and the engine running, but that is a safety feature, and I do not see any connection with this issue she is experiencing.

Thanks,

Could be one of the doors is not responding to the drivers door "telling" it to lock so when the other doors all lock, the unlocked door causes a default and unlocks the others, if that makes any sense...I had the same issue and found that the rear door behind the driver was not locking so I manually locked it and everything works fine, that door just stays locked for now..No one ever rides in my backseat so what do I care...

Check each door by manually locking per the above post. If a manually locked door does cause your remote locking to stay locked, may be an actuator. There is a cheap plastic component in there -- broke on my rear passenger's side door.

As mentioned above one of your door lock actuators failed. The most common one is the drivers side rear, also mentioned.
