Default 2003 S-type battery interrupt

Thinking of installing a battery interrupt similar to this Auto Battery Link Terminal Quick Cut Off Disconnect Master Kill Shut Switch | eBay

If I do, would it require re-setting anything after the battery is disabled and then re-enabled? Thanks!

Yup, everything including the clock, radio stations, seat preset, windows etc.

Why do you want to install such a switch?

Was having a problem with the battery discharging and thought if I interrupt it when it was shut down, I could save the hassle of jumping until the problem is found.,...however I installed a new battery yesterday and so far it appears that will take care of it.....I'm a Noob here....Thanks for the info!

A cheaper solution is to get a good quality (CTek) battery conditioner / charger... I dont drive my S-Type any where near enough enough and was getting battery drain problems (random warning lights/codes/ etc). Now I just plug it in when leaving it for extended periods (a week or more) and it has not missed a beat since.

Welcome to the forum tumbleweed.

Why don't you stop by the "New Member" page and properly introduce yourself per forum protocol.

Secondly like the majority of members here, we have put our vehicle specifics in our signature, so far we know you have a 2003 S type but what motor. Its really easy to do just go to "UserCP" in the upper left corner of any site page look for "Edit Signature" and fill in info. click "Save". It saves you from typing year and model in all your posts.

This morning after nearly 40 hrs on the battery charger the light on charger was a solid green. Check voltage @ 13.5v cold, non-running car. Took off charger and let sit for 1 hour, checked battery and read 12.38v. The battery is 14 mos. old. Alternators fine with load at 14.5v. Battery drain and or bad battery? Also have noticed that the PATS light flashes appox. every 3 sec. even when the car is off and UNlocked, is that normal? Owned for just 2 weeks. 102k miles.

Thanks.

As I replied in your other post. I suspect a amperage draw issue. Could also be a bad battery and excessive amperage draw.

i don't know if anyone has mentioned this. when you leave the car, lock it, the power drain is minimal compared to leaving it unlocked, just my experience.
