2003 S-Type Restriced Performance Light

I have 53,000 miles on my 2003 S-type and yesterday out of the blue the Engine light came on and also the Restricted Perforance light came on. I was driving it home and noticed after those lights came on the car would start to spit at 3000 rpms and it felt like it was going to stall. Does anybody know what this could be from? Oh yeah and when you are at a stop and then you go it kicks hard sometimes, I know it could be a few things but just some heads up stuff would help me before I take it to the dealer, Thanking you all in advance.

Spark or fuel problem. Do you have a 4.2 or 3.0?
If the 4.2, check the plugs, unless you have a warranty, let the dealer deal with it.

It's a 3.0 and I did just get fuel a few hours before this started to happen, could it be BAD FUEL? If it's bad fuel any ideas on how to fix it?

It's a coincidence...You'd think that station would get into a lot of trouble for selling bad gas. Tons of other cars would have simular problems.

If it is bad gas, a gas syphon is the easier solution, you will need a ton of empty gas cans. Time to call all your friends and neighbors over. Other way is tofill up withhigh octane race fuel to balance the bad gas out, this is not the better choice...
