I just started having a similar problem with my STR. I was told that the Evap Temp Sensors are probably bad. These sensors are sometimes called Air Discharge Temp Senors. I purchased two of the sensors and will install them tomorrow. I will let you know if it solves my problem. The sensors were only around $22 each.

Those sensors are very common I usually replace both and all is well. Easy to replace as well

Hey Buddy: Wondered if I could get a bit more detail on this issue. '03 S-Type V8 ACC problem arising. When temp on unit set below 75 degrees cold air blows all sides & rear vent. Heat only when above. When blower speed reduced to 1-bar & car in idle then heat is present but believe this is only from the engine! Are these sensors referred to as:
Air Discharge Temp Sensors or Evap Temp Sensors? And, what are the access points for replacement? The parts guy at my dealership doesn't seem to know what a Evap Temp Sensors is??????? Do you know the part number(s) & approximate cost per?
RSVP,
TerryJ

They are Air Discharge Temp Sensors or Evap Temp Sensors they are two different sensors. The Air Discharge temp sensors it not to bad to get to I did not see were under the dash but the tech removed it in like 2min's so it can’t be that hard. Here are some pics I would change out the Air Discharge Temp Sensors first then Evap Temp Sensors. If the air temp sensor dose not fix it, then chage out the Evap sensor. I had the same problem with my car. Cost $20 each there are two for the Air Discharge Temp Sensors $50 Evap Temp Sensors.
