Default 2004 Stereo Question - Double Din

So I just purchased a 2004 Jaguar S-Type and I really would like to put the Pioneer AVIC-D3 in-Dash navigation system in it. My roommate has it in his Mustang and it's really nice. They only thing is that it's a double din stereo. Are you able to put a double din in the 2004 and if so where can you find the bezel and what not for it.

Thanks!!

I think someone said that a double din unit will fit in snug without having a bezel to go around it. You will need to get special wires to have the DVD/Navi availability. As far as everything else is concerned, I think they said it was cheaper to get an aftermarket setup than it is to get the DVD based navi unit from the factory (to get that done I think they said was $4000-$5000). I'm looking at getting the EXACT same setup in my '03 S Type this summer. So let me know how it goes!!![:-]

Is there anyone on here that has a 2004 that has added an after market double din system? If so how hard was it and how did you do it without a bevel?

I don't know anyone who has it done already. If they have I'm sure they'll have a post up sooner or later. I'd also be interested in seeing more about it also.

Well there are guys that have done it in the x-type and I'd imagine that the dash has to be the same size if not bigger in the s-type right? That is one heck of a price on it too! Holy crap! Do you have any experience at car audio or fabrication or anything? Your best bet is to get the unit, pull the radio out (i'd imagine its similar to the x-type they have a faq section about doing this) and using mdf (medium density fiberboard) make your own dash kit. You can either paint it to a similar color or you can leather it either way there are ways to do it and to me seemed quite easy!
Use this link and check it out here...I'll be using this if I end up doing a radio change...LINK

I was thinking about trying to get this http://www.nexxia.co.uk/Car_Stereo_f...s/FP-14-01.jpg and then cutting it so it will fit a double din. My only worry is that I am not sure how deep the 2004 S-Types stereo is. In otherwards I don't know if the nav is too deep to fit in the car.

I mean you could do that but did you check out that link? Check out the link...get the avic d3. spend $5 bucks at home depot for a small sheet of mdf and try fabbing your own dash kit...your out what 5 bucks! Than if it turns out a-ok your good to go!

Actually I forgot here's one for sale on this forum just cut it to fit your double din! LINKERTHINGY

Hey pal, as I told you through our PM's, the D3 is the same size as the stock unit with maybe just the slightest difference. There is space in there...trust me.

If you would've asked here, I'm sure quil would've had a similar price without having to twist too many arms. Or am I wrong?
