None as yet. I see replacements on eBay and also SNG Barrett. I will order one then attempt at removal. As for now, the old retaining ring is holding and not leaking.

I think I posted this before. eBay has them from $13.95 towards $125.00. I don't know why the price difference.

Welp, finally broke down and ordered locking ring and the oring for sender unit from SNG Barrett this morning. About a week until delivery, $25.00 for plastic locking ring and I can't recall oring price.

Joyce is tired of guessing how much gas is in tank. Fill tank up fuel needle goes to full tank upon nearing empty tank, needle drops just below the 3/4 rank mark. The digital distance in dash basically acts same way.

Of course I will be the guinea pig again. I will finally figure out how to remove the facelift locking rings!

I was under the impression that the S-type had two sending units, one which covered a full tank down to 1/2 and one from roughly1/2 to empty, with the car's internal circuitry determining which sender's signal was reflected on the gauge. Is the STR somehow different than the lesser S-types?

Haha, yes, us "lesser s types" have different fuel pump/sending unit configurations than the STRs.

Whoop!

Are you sure Rick? The electrical diagram (7.1) doesn't show any difference between the granny cars and their more important siblings.

I have a leak from the transfer pump side of my tank, so I need to remove it and replace seal, ring, or whatever is the issue. I do not know how to remove it and was hoping you would share how.

wonderful jag engineering!! the screw clamp has a breakoff bolt head! It shears at the correct tightness! I guess the mechanics are too stupid to torque them (4nM). However, I cut a slot in the broken portion so I could get a screwdriver bit on it - then the remainder of the tin (it was fairly soft) broke off of what was a normal hose clamp hex screw! That allowed me to use a 1/4 drive ratchet, laborious as could only get a couple of clicks at a tiem, but it came off finally. Hope this info helps someone. The plastic cap was split. The cap is outrageous at $130 to $180.
