Default 2006 S-type R tire recommendation

Hi All,
I'm new to the forum and searched old threads for tire recommendations but wasn't able to find one. I have had the car for 4K miles and it came with Conti Pro's that needed to be replaced due to cracking because the car had been sitting for 4 years. I took off the Conti Pro Contacts and put Bridgestone Potenza’s on the car but after 3K miles they are feathering on the front inside and was told the by the tire dealer that the car needed an alignment but my mechanic said they are within spec and that the Bridgestone’s were not compatible with the car and he recommended going back to the Conti's but I don’t think they look like they have much performance appeal. I was looking at the Conti Extreme Contact DWS.
I am looking for a all-season performance tire that is quite. Any suggestions?

I don't think you can go wrong with the Contis. I had the DW and I loved them.

Not compatible? I have Bridgestone Potenza RE970AS Pole Positions and they aren't feathering and I'm lowered.

My first suggestion: Fire your mechanic!

Tires not compatible?????????

Do a search here on Front End Alignment. There is even one real good thread in the FAQ sticky.

Your dealer was correct. Inside tire wear is an alignment issue that is very common with these cars. Read and print the threads regarding alignment and get the car aligned properly and the wear should be fixed...

I suppose "compatible" depends on which spec tire!

In my experience, tire retailers pushed the Continental DWS tire (an all season tire) which is a good tire but I have not experienced them first-hand.

Continental DW tires are great (Click Here) and read posts 3-8.

I have put DWS on several cars (including a 400hp BMW 335i) and plan to put them on my Jag when needed. Great treadwear and wet/snow performance and dry performance is excellent. If you're going with an all season I would highly recommend them. Not as sticky as a summer tire, but close.
