( 3.0L Duratec )Between the Heads under the Fuel injectors there is a Semi Large cap held by 2 bolts, what is this called and where can i get a gasket for it?? I have Oil all over my Garage Floors and oil is leaking from that cap.

If i cant find this gasket could i make a gasket that would fit?

Oh! I thought all 3.0L has the same? Its a 04 Jag Xtype with a 3.0L Duratec.

Its a oval looking cap with a big X stamped on it, its between both heads near the end of the block, two small bolts hold it down, when i opened the cap i could see right inside the engine block.

The rubber gaskets has seen better days!

I cant seem to find a name or a gasket for it anywhere.

I would guess that you could get the part from Ford it is their engine. Just don't remove it again.

Does this help you any with identification?

I removed it due to leaking already. Ive seen another post saying its called a valley cap??? whats its for I dont no?. "oh dont we love Fords"

Seems the only place to find a gasket is at the Dealer. Im not about to spend $50 for some rubber gasket prob. made in china.. I will make my own. shoooots if i had a aluminum welder i would weld a plate on it.

I had my intake and valve covers off not to long ago. I do not recall seeing that "valley cap or cover plate".
Sorry

its on all Duratec 2.5L and 3.0L engines made by FORD() Im hoping one of the Jag experts here could tell me what it is called or post a part # of this.

Take a look under the injectors near the rear of block, also under the water inlet/outlet tube.

its a pain in the azz to get to....

If it's just a blanking plate I'd go with your first idea and just make a gasket with a bit of sealant on it.

Make a gasket and use some HI TACK from permatex to seal it. Don't use cork. Use the slate black gasket material.

To really find out what it is, go to the dealer close to you they can pull it up on their parts screen. But if that is not convenient make a gasket.
