Default Auto headlights

Hello guys !

So there is a law in my country which states that headlights MUST be turned on all day long. But i'm tired of turning the switch every time i turn the car on/off. Is there any way to take the light sensor off so i can tint it ? I tried to cover it with tape and it works, but that way it covers the alarm lamp aand it's ugly.

What a great question! Always-on headlights aren't required here but I do drive with them on all the time, so I'm as anxious as you to see what fix our members come up with. Thanks for posting!

Always-on headlamps are required in Canada. Do we have any Canadian folkn on the list?

Perhaps it would be a simple as replacing the headlamp switch with one designed for the Canadian market?

But wasn't your car legal when it was new? Did the law change since then? Wouldn't a car that was legal once upon a time be "grandfathered" under the new law? If not, that kind of sucks...

I believe a dealer can reset the configuration of the car to have DRLs (daylight running lights). Note that DRLs only illuminate the main headlight beams and no other lights. Make sure that this meets the requirements of your local laws.

im in Bulgaria- Europe. The law is 1 year old but im used to driving with headlights on since i got my license. But its realy annoying to turn the switch everytime. i've happened to forget to turn the lights off a few times. so it would be great if someone can suggest a way to take out the light sensor. it seems the plastic under the windshield is a seperate piece, but i have no idea if it has any clips or bolts under there and thaths whats stoping my mechanics to try it.

It's there, but the reconfiguration/reprogramming of the electronics requires specialized equipment.

i was thinking it might be possible to remove the dome over the sensor, cover the sensor, replace dome, switch lights to auto, lights come on cos sensor thinks its dark.

I am pretty sure that it is dealer configurable because my headlights have daylight running in auto mode and I don't live in Canada.

Yes, dealer can program to activate DRL. Dealer did mine without my asking. Even though that feature was not listed as installed from factory, I got seven years credit from insurance company for DRL!
