Nooooo.....the battery voltage is too low.
Jags are notoriously fickle on battery voltage. You should be reading 12.6v after standing overnight, anything lower stands the chance it'll throw a code or EML
Plus if you only use it for short journeys that'll not charge it enough to maintain the systems requirements.
You could try putting it on a battery tender overnight, clear the fault codes, check the voltage in the morning to make sure it is up around 12.6v, then have a run around for an hour or two. See if the fault codes re-appear. But I suspect not.
And as you say in your post, if you have run around most of the day and it is showing 12.4 volts, then I would supect that it has a dying cell in it anyway.
Another case of a bad battery causing undue mayhem for Karl

Cheers Karl it does show restricted performance now and again so I'll do what you suggest and see what occurs

I would agree a new battery is the way forward.
As mentioned you may well find the faults disappear.

More than you ever wanted to know about batteries here:

Please note a new battery is not a guaranteed fix, but if the condition is suspect, it's worth a gamble. Per the scorecard so far, the odds are about 50%. That may seem low, but is actually quite high for a single component causing otherwise unexplainable problems.

Also make sure to rule out other factors causing low pre-start voltage. It sounds like your alternator is charging okay, but you could still have a low usage driving pattern or battery drain that is complicating things. For troubleshooting, you can hook up a charger every night for a week so you'd know the battery is fully topped off at the start of each day. If the car now behaves itself, you'd know the issue were caused by low pre-start voltage.

180 pounds just for labor? Oy vey, that's spendy.

You'll need to do the throttle calibration:

Also, if you have the factory radio, I think it will require a security code. Most markets don't require it, but I think the UK models do.

Can't you get Halfords or Kwikfit or somebody to do it? Oops I see you have!!

£150 still makes the eyes water.

A hundred and eighty quid to fit a battery? Find a different garage, or just go to Halford's or another parts house, purchase the battery and fit it yourself. It should take you roughly ten minutes.
