battery question
Just a question...Can a battery sitting at 11.6V cause a bunch of codes to come up on the scanner? I ran my scanner on my 2000 S Type w V6. At one point I cleared dozens of codes...you know start fresh see what happens. without ever driving the car (I have run it in the driveway) I have something like 13 codes returned from I think 10 of the 17 modules scanned. There is a "battery voltage out of range" cone for almost every module. If it's not a low battery there must be a catastrophic problem with this car as the codes are from more that half of the modules. I'm at a loss. it certainly isn't worth spending weeks chasing all these codes down. TIA.
If the battery has less than 12.6 volts across the terminals with the ignition in the OFF position, the battery should be charged overnight and retested. If the voltage is still less than 12.6 volts, the battery should be replaced.
A failing or weak battery can cause random DTCs to be set.

Oh yeah... 11.6 is not good. Take it to a autoparts store and have them test it under load.
My 03's battery is aging and is in the 12.2-4 area. I'm thinking of replacing it soon just cause I know its getting close and winter is coming.
