Default Block Heater 2006 Stype sport 3.0

Good evening all!
I never used this on my car, but I have the plug in the front....and was told I should because it is better for the car because of the cold winters we have up here in Ontario Canada....
Just wanted some advice!
thank you

Mine's no longer a year round driver but in the years it was, I never once used the block heater, simply because I didn't know it had one!

Started just fine even at -30*C. A good battery is far more important.

It makes for easier starts. Keeps the oil warmer. The engine goes into closed loop operation faster. The heater starts working faster.

What do you think?

I'd use it in those temperatures, for those reasons.

The OP is in Niagara Falls, considerably warmer than where I used to live and the rest of Canada. It's our 'wine belt' with average winter temps of only -10*C.

Hardly worth putting on long pants.

Thats short sleeve shirt weather over here....lol

We regularly in winter time get around -6 to -10 or thereabouts and sometimes colder.

A few years here in Glasgow we were actually colder that Siberia, we were -20 and they were around -19 iirc

Ok so we're not as bad as some places for sure, but my car and most others all started and ran fine, as long as the battery was in good order as stated.

Now if you start talking around -30 then for sure I could see the sense I suppose.

Having said that, depending on length of winter and constant temps as Plums said ( also dependent on price / hassle etc ) it may be a good idea.

You pays your money and you make your choices
