The other day the boot wouldn't close. I adjusted the striker plate and it now closes but I can't open it with the remote fob. Key in the lock will open it. When pressing the remote or the button inside the car I can hear the lock 'clunking' but it doesn't open!
If I open the boot and close the lock with a screwdriver I cannot release it with the remote or the push button on the boot. Only the key will release it!
Any ideas please.

 

Hi Martin,
There are, I believe, 2 operating arms for the lock. One for the manual key in the lock side and one for the electronic side. It is quite possible, as you can hear the clunking, you may need some adjustment on that arm.

Either way you will have to get into it, while you are there you may as well lubricate the locking mechanism.

Many thanks Jim for your comments. I removed the lock at the weekend and after careful inspection noticed that a tooth on one of the plastic cogs (visible without dismantling) was broken. I turned the cog to a new position and it works fine until the cog rotates to the broke position.I have a new lock on order via PartsGateway.
