Default Brake pedal requires more pressure than normal?

My 2004 lincoln LS = 2004 Jag S type seems to require more brake pedal effort that similar sports sedans. (IE my late 2002 Nissan Maxima.)
The anti lock system is working OK, my brake pads and rotors are good.
The car stopps straight and brakes seem to work OK. Is the heavy feel normal, and if so why would they engineer this feel into the car. Is this typical of the Jaguar S type?

Thanks, Gord.

Welcome Gord. lots of us Canadians here.

I can only say that the brake pedal force on my S-type is amongst the lightest of any car I've owned. Could be that you've got some wonky aftermarket pads that last forever but don't brake worth a d*mn.

My STR brakes are very light touch.
