Just for info.

Got new pads from Brake Performance. They sent Bosch this time. Put them on after cleaning up the area of the brakes considering there might be contamination- problem gone.

As a side note I needed new caliper bolts and was able to use caliper guide pins and bolts from OReilly that were listed for 2005 Lincoln LS. Worked perfectly- guide pins exactly the same and bolts were a size 14 and that was even easier to tighten.

Curious if anyone knows the alternative or of the Lincoln might also fit for the rears on guide pins?. Jag dealer says they only sell pins or bolts with a full caliper- what nonsense!

Thanks

Most likely yes. The 6 cylinder cars share the most between the LS and the S Type. After the 2003 Jaguar upgrade not as many parts do.

I'm glad to hear that decent pads cured the soft pedal problem. I'm surprised that you needed to change pins. What was wrong with the old ones?
