Default Broken Key - 2005 S-type

I recently broke the key for my 2005 Jaguar s-type off in the ignition. It has completely broken free from the remote. I was able to start the car by turning the key with a pair of pliers; however, since driving it home, it will not start. All of the accessory lights come on but when I turn the key there is absolutely no engine cranking. I tried holding the key fob close the the ignition while turning the key but still nothing.

Welcome to the forum,
I've moved your post to the S Type forum for a better response.
If you had posted in the new members area you would have been directed to the correct area.

I think it'll be necessary to take the column etc apart, then extract the lock / key. Be gentle.

I think so too.

Can you do the repair yourself?
Do you have the shop manual? It's called the JTIS and it's free on this forum.
You will need it.

The steel piece of key does not have the transponder in it. Use another key that is complete (please don't say you only have one key).

Another way is to turn the metal key with pliers but hold the plastic part that broke near the key as you crank it (it has the transponder in it).

He said he held the FOB up so that should get the transponder close to the ignition switch.
Maybe a battery problem with the FOB?
