i have just purchased another 4.2 s type 2004
It went fine on test drive
But when i got home tuned it off
Doors locked by themselves and alarm went off
so i unlocked doors put key in ignition started car
Turned engine off closed drivers door
Car locked its self again
So unlocked it again with remote
Dam this it locked itself again
Have locked and unlocked with key and remote
stays unlocked for around 30 seconds then locks again
Light on dash flashes once every 3 seconds when locked
when unlocked not flashing
has anyone else had this problem

Door actuator failed.

PATS seems normal.

Have just tested all door actuators seem to be working fine
I have also tapped two wires into the lock/ unlock in driver's door right hand drive
Then jumped by touching wires with a test light connected to body of car
then connected to lock wire
well all doors locked and stayed locked pats was normal
Then did the same with unlock
All doors unlocked and stayed unlocked
Pats light stayed off

Is there any way to bypass alarm

I would look at all the security configurations in the modules.
PASSIVE LOCKING or some other feature might be ENABLED and you might want to DISABLE some of the features?

 

I had a similar problem and it turned out to a problem with the actuator on the passenger door. It would either fail to lock or fail to stay unlocked when using the remote. When it stayed in the lock position, the doors would initially unlock, then immediately lock again. In the unlock position, the car wouldn't lock. I've not replaced the actuator as yet because it's a real PIA job.
