Default Caliper Bolts - Discard

Bought new pads, opened up the JTIS to have a quick walk/llok through.

Remove the caliper bolts and discard.

Huh. So order new ones then? IS that what you've all been doing at each break pad change?

Best pricing?

Thanks for the input!

I have changed brake pads (both front and rear) twice on my 2005 S-Type, now at about 93,700 miles. I re-used the factory caliper bolts both times. No issues at all with them. Your mileage may vary....

My suspicion is a lawyer wrote that advice. I've re-used mine all round and I'm doing a front bearing at the moment with no plans for new bolts.

I remember reading that it due to the thread locking compound was only good for one use.

That's an easy fix.

Yes, I stopped reading that piece of information. Haven't had any problems since.

I think it's "better" for a dealer to use new (better = faster, cheaper, whatever). The new ones have thread lock pre-applied etc.

For DIY it's a different equation. We have to figure out the reasons.
