My 2004 3:00 petrol has corroded cam-covers. My mechanic just replaced leaking cam-cover gaskets at 200,000 km and reported, with surprise, that the covers themselves were cracking and corroding and will need replacing. Does anyone have experience or advice on this?

Thanks for the link, very helpful and good to know I'm not alone! The problem now is what to do about it as replacement cam covers don't seem to be available either new or second hand for my 2004 S Type 3 litre. The cam covers are not yet completely destroyed. I've seen mention of a sacrificial anode, is this something that could stop further deterioration? Does anyone have a suggestion that could explain this or otherwise help me going forward?
Many thanks to anyone who has a suggestion,
Michael (in Australia)
