Default Can DTCs be check from instrument panel?

is this possible in my 2003 S type R? If so, how's it done? I searched, but couldn't find an answer.

Thanks!

I have a basic code scanner, but it doesn't check transmission codes, or dtcs from other modules...

You can get the codes by going into the Engineering Test Mode.

Don't get too distracted. I am sure more than a few fender benders were caused by the driver having too much fun with engineering mode.

Bear in mind what you will see are the ones the IC has. They may be very old but in any case you typically want the ones the PCM now has.

Just get a cheap OBD tool such as elm327 - about $15.
