Can I use an 05 XKR transmission on my 03STR?
Could I use an 05 XKR transmission in my 03 STR?
My last 6 of the VIN are M76XXX, I was told that it has to be M95XXX and up in order to work.
Can anyone tell me what are the differences? Maybe is just as simple as a sensor or such, if thats different which then I could swap it, and make it work?
Thank you!
JG

Have no experience with this, I would guess physically there shouldn´t be any issues, and electronically I would guess with a TCM reprogramming it would be ok as well, but please don´t take this as a definitive yes.
I would ask the person who told you the info, what the reason is behind it. You could also ask resellers of these gearboxes what their experience has been.

No experience either however the part numbers for the complete transmission assembly are identical in the parts catalog for the 4.2 S/C X202 and X103.
So i'd say yes...but of course the TCM will need to be re-programmed.
