Hello everyone,

I've got an '02 S-Type, and I can't get out of park. I've had problems with it sticking before, but I'd usually be able to force it into drive, then back into reverse, and then it would be fine. It's never been this bad, and I feel like I'm going to break it if I try any harder.
Anyway, right now it's parked on a small incline (don't know if that matters). Any insight?

Find a friend and have them rock the car forward and back while you try to get it out of park. If you try too hard the J-gate has a plastic socket that engages the cable mechanism and it will break. The J-gate is expensive.
