Hi all Im hopeing someone can help me out, I havew recently bought a 2004 STR Japanese import which is in incredible condition, BUT the alarm does not set, no indicator, or noise, and no flashing light on dashboard when locked.
Any idears please.

Do you have a fully working remote key fob that locks and unlocks the car as it should?
If so perhaps the alarm system may not have been a standard item on the Japanese market cars?
There is also the posiability that it has been deactivated using the Jaguar software, but I am not sure that this can be done?

I do know that the Japanese cars were not fitted with the passive alarm system so they have not got the Thatcham category 1 alarm as all the UK and EU cars have.
This is perhaps something that you need to let your insurance company know about

I wouldn't even worry. At this age of the car who's going to mess to see if it's alarmed? What would they be trying to steal?

The most valuable item may be the cat and they could cut it off without setting the alarm off.
