Default Car stops unexpectedly, but restarts .

Hi Guys ,i have a 04 s type 2.7 diesel, 104.000 on the clock, it will at odd times just turn off while going along. i can restart ok but will be in limp mode . That said if i remove the key and restart its fine . Only does it odd times it has o new battery 18 months ago. Any help appreciated.

Welcome to the forum. If your car has entered limp mode, it will have generated some OBD fault codes. Please post the codes and hopefully we can help you. If you don't have a scanner or code reader, most auto part stores will read the codes for free.

When retrieving the codes, please post the actual 5 digit code, such as P0174. Don't rely on the definition provided by your scanner or code reader, as those are not always accurate for a Jaguar. In some cases, the definitions can be downright misleading, so always go by the code itself.

@Jag 8578, what is the voltage across the battery terminals with the ignition in the OFF position when checked with a voltmeter?

Bear in mind that most members on this forum are from North America where Jaguar never offered a diesel variant of the X200/X202.

When you have the code (or codes) you can look it up yourself by downloading in the official Jaguar workshop manual:
