Default CDC Error

Can anyone possibly give me a simple answer to this problem or am I looking at a specialised garage.
For whatever reason my 6 CD changer has started to constantly give me a message of " CDC No Disc". I ahve to admit to palying copied discs but they have played in the past.
I have picked up a few threads which although may be straight forward to the authors, I'm afraid I need the "Dummies Guide".

It's a late 2003 S-Type Sport 3.0 V6 Petrol. The CD Changer is mounted in the boot so would need instructions on how to remove it before taking it apart to look at worm drives or anything else!!.

Would greatly appreciate any help and many thanks in advance.

Could be dirty "laser", try a cleaning disc or take apart and clean.

Download a copy of JTIS for removal instructions

the alpine units do that sometimes. usually you need to clean the laser or regrease the innards. It will require taking the unit apart. Sometimes it will mean replacing the unit also. i have seen it happen on the aftermarket alpine units many times.
