Center console removal, best way?
I need to remove my console to change the leather hand brake gatier. I know these things are prone to break. What is the best way to get it off without forcing it off? Thanks
You might get a response to your mystery car if you mention the MY.
There are several versions of this car and the interiors are different.
If you have a "leather hand brake gatier" then you probably have the X200 (2000-2002).
Pull up on the handbrake 'as hard as you can'.
I grasp the cubby area on both sides with the lid open and pull up 'smartly'.
If you hear metal retaining brackets fall into the 'darkness' be sure to locate them and put them back in place before reinstalling.
Unplug the switches and cigar lighter harness connectors.
