Instead of duct tape, home depot sells thin Alum. foil tape that is designed to seal the metal pipes on the furnace which should hold up to temp a bit better and won't leave that gummy glue and fibers when you remove it.

+1. So called duct tape is no GD good for duct work either as it dries out and fails. The aluminum tape will split and tear though it the parts move. Duct tape is for Nascar type repairs for one race only.

You started a thread about the same exact issue I'm dealing with so I interjected my similar questions as well as what I found out. I think that's allowed on here???

Then we briefly discussed when and where we picked up our cars since I had just picked up mine in Atlanta last Satuirday and you were at the dealer looking for an ACM module. I asked about the color of yours you posted a link and then you asked about the color of mine and I posted the Ebay link of the car I bought with all the pictures.

Is that a problem?

I really don't like the car listings they keep posting, etc.

It's all too easy to be a bit put out about something and come across as more cross than was really intended...... it happens a lot on forums everywhere so best to just chill

I'm definitely guilty of this, btw

It's kinda... put a bunch of sharp, opinionated guys together and what would you expect

With luck it's possible to "fall out" (disagree, possibly a LOT) like 3 times a day but still get along fine.

Part of the reason will be the sheer number of posts etc before you got the car.... I was dreading yet another and had thought you weren't really gonna buy one but would ask for ever.... I'm sooo glad you got one (and a good spec from the sounds of it) LOL

I'm not unaware of those points. I tend to do my homework and I wouldn't have put that much effort into it if I wasn't serious about getting a car. Still, if I had found enough stuff that said "hey don't buy this car" I would have thanked everyone and disappeared. I must have wanted it a lot to know about the headlamps and under supercharger hoses issues and still said yes. ;>)

The car drives fantastically and I think they're a very good value.

I was just kind of surprised that after Chrislynn5 and I started "helping" each other with this ACM issue and discussing car colors etc. I see this post so I asked if there was a problem. As you say maybe my wording in the post with the Ebay link wasn't clear to him/her? In that context I thought it was. I'm not generally sparse with my language (no sh*t Sherlock) but I was in that instance. Those are the only pictures of the car I have. I'm not sure there's a disagreement here at all here. Perhaps just a bit of confisuion. If chrislynn5 would prefer I not have a discussion with him/her. That's OK too. Just send me a PM.

I agree with you about it's OK for people to disagree on "topics" but stay away from the name calling and try not to get mad.

I've no issues at all with you or anyone else with the ACM stuff or car colors. I just ignored the ebay link as I wasn't interested. Didn't trouble me at all. Some OT stuff is no biggie to me.

(I'm vaguely interested in the ACM, but doubt I'll bother to fit one LOL)

Just to clarify: I wasn't meaning to tell anyone off or express my annoyance, more just hoping everyone understands it's easy to come across that way accidentally.

Thanx joycesjag, I just ordered the part $90 shipped!
as for the prevoius link, I was just commenting that u should add some description as to why it was posted, I think we're all now extremely sensitive to spam, links, etc so we're either paranoid or suspicious. It's all good. Links to ads that are gone or dead usually reek of spammers

Which link are you refering to? What I tried to do was copy/attach the websites "found parts page" for you so all you had to do is read it and choose whether not you wanted to make the purchase, but unfortunately the page would not load correctly.

www.car-part.com is not spam!

Hi Rick,

Thanks for the link. Pretty interesting site and they seem to have a good selection of S-Type parts. I did notice that when I did a search for coils, my results were for X-Types so their search algorithm might need a bit of work.

This might be a candidate for a General Tech Help sticky.

Mike,

Are your coils suspect? The research I did in late 2008 and early 2009 shows that by the 2005 model year, Jaguar had finally solved the earlier S-Type's coil problems with a couple of redesigns and vendor changes. From the 2005 and newer model years, we don't hear many complaints about coil failures....

Hi Jon,

My coils are fine. Rick just gave me a new toy and I was trying out some of the search functions. I was just going through some of the parts that were discussed in previous posts. Just as an example, A/C compressors in my general area are going for between $150 and $250. For those people whose cars are out of warranty and are fairly handy, this might be a way to go.

Default she's up again!!!

Thank you everyone, especially Joycesjag!!!!!! I received the part, they sent the entire filter housing for$90 shipped (and yes the STR was different and only they had it!!) and after looking at it again decided to remove the entire assembly from my car as suggested. It wasn't too bad, I got it out, replaced the top cover and put it all back together and it's good as gold!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanx again. Lesson, let dealer change filter or remove entire assembly
