Default Chasing the P0442: Carbon Canister is discontinued

I cant get my car to pass emissions and therefore cant get my car legally registered to drive.

After clearing the codes, I have the following PENDING codes. P0442 and P1000

I replaced the gas cap with one purchased from the Jaguar dealer. Pending codes reappear after clearing them.

I started to suspect the carbon canister. After removing the canister and inspecting it, I can see zero cracks. Even so, I called the Jaguar dealership and they informed me that the canister has been discontinued.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I do not want to go out and get in debt with a new car.

2005 Jag S-Type 3.0 Base.

Follow the complete path. My P0442 was a dislodged hose leading to the canister.

I thought I did... but I will recheck the hoses.

For testing what if you duct tape or otherwise seal the entire canister?

Does it make the P0442 go away? Remember to clear the existing pending P0442
to eliminate a false positive.

Hi there, i am new here and ave a quistion to my Jag 2005 3.0 V6. The car has aproblem with the warm start since a few months. Cold starts immediately but when the engine has warmed up and switched off again it starts really badly after an hour. Immediately after switching the engine off again, the engine starts immediately but if time goes over an hour then it gets worse. and when it's cold it jumps ok. I've been smelling exhaust fumes in the cabin for several months. I suspect it has something to do with the tank ventilation system. or that the carbon canister is leaky. Where to find the Carbon Canister on this Model? Also what could be the reson of this problem (Warmstart problem)? Thank you very much

Carbon canister try noma auto parts or jaguarreserve.com. Call noma and tell them what you need. As far as what is actually causing the smell. I would lean towards something under the hood. Like the purge lines or the valve itself. I am assuming the v6 is similar to the v8 that i am familiar with. If i am wrong someone will correct me. That is what is nice about forum. Someone always knows. I think the cannister itself is buried around the rear axle. If it exhaust and not gas smell you could have a bad manifold to pipe seal

Can you scan the car? With what you have hopefully there are some EGR or EVAP codes that will help?
Do you have the work shop manual? If not spend some time finding one. You will use it again and again!
