Check your spare
I was cleaning the trunk and spare tire wheel on our recent acquisition (2003 S-type), and noticed that the Continental "space saver" spare was nearly flat (6.5 psi). I doubt it was ever disturbed by the two POs in the last 8 years. It is supposed to be inflated to 60 psi. So if you haven't done so recently, I advise on checking the tire pressure in your spare.
I agree. I check all of our spares about once per season. I tend to keep them overinflated by 10 psi or so to account for gradually declining air pressure. You can always release some air in the event that you are forced to use the spare....
Excellent thread/advice. I didn't realize the original owner shredded the spare till the front drivers tire blew. It cost me $75 to tow to shop down the road. Coventry West (Atlanta, GA.) sold me a salvaged "never used" spare for $120.
