I have a strange issue, I know there are hundreds of AC related threads on the forums but I figured I’d start a new one to try to get this resolved. I am at the end of my tether and ready to sell the car.
My 2004 4.2 V8 Jaguar S Type was working absolutely perfectly then one day at random the AC started to blow hot air only.
when I say hot air I mean HEATED (25c and above). Even if the climate it completely off a max hot air still trickles out.
I have the nav module so can’t find any online with the same part.
Any idea what the issue could be here?
I’ll recap what each vent is doing starting from near side
1) blows max hot air all the time
2) blows hot air (ever so slightly less hot)
3) blows max hot air
4) blows max hot air
is there anything I can do to even turn the HEAT off perhaps a fuse somewhere? Neutral would be better than nothing.
Ah yes. I forgot forums are the home of the “use the search function”
I did say in my post, I’ve read many forum threads and my issue is still undiagnosed
never mind; I’ll keep digging
Two quick questions:
1) Did you save the receipt for the money-back guarantee?
2) Did you work through any of the steps in the climate control troubleshooting guide? See the link in the very first reply in this thread. Your exact situation is covered in verbose detail.
Correct, My specific problem is not covered in that thread. (Max heat always, even while entire system off, on both sides).
Au contraire, your specific problem is covered in excruciating detail. In the troubleshooting guide, do the steps in post #2 that show how to test the DCCV. Here's a handy link that will take you directly to this step, to save you some scrolling:
The third line in that step, copied verbatim with underlining added for emphasis:
"The DCCV can be a problem child. Before doing anything else, let's make sure the two valves in the DCCV operate properly. If these valves stick open, even partially, hot coolant will reach the heater core and heat will be dumped into the cabin."
Is that not exactly what you are experiencing? What's that saying about leading a horse to water?...
Nobody is picking on you. We're trying to help you. This is a VERY common problem with the S-Type. Read the guide. Follow the troubleshooting steps.
This was exactly what happened in my 2004 S-type, heat full on.
Changed DCCV after short diagnosis, mine was heavily corroded.
Had to repair the CCM aswell, but this was a relatively easy fix.
First, diagnose... all the information is here on the site.
