Default Coil Pack Improvement ?

We sure read about a lot of failed coil packs in the early-model S-Types on this forum. These failures seem to be far more frequent for owners of 1999 to 2003 cars.

Did Jaguar ever figure out the coil pack issue in these cars during the S-Type production run between 1999 and 2008 and change suppliers or make improvements so they don't fail nearly as frequently after a certain model year? If so, what model year S-Type received the improved coil packs?

I think they changed to different coils in 03' then again in 05' ? because last time I bought a couple they looked very different and I asked the parts guy and he said they were the knew "super coils" haha the name sounded like bullsh*t but I think the design was new..

I doubt it. Why not suspect the KS?

When I bought coils for my 2005 I checked different yr prices and part numbers. I know in 2005 they changed the coil and the price almost doubled. I was like the 2004 engine is the same and the coil is half the price. I still didn't risk it. I made sure I got 2005 coils.

My stock coils said Denso, but when I picked up some from the parts store they were branded Motorcraft and looked a bit different.

When I replaced the coils on my '03, they looked different. The top of the coil was smaller in size than the existing ones in the car. So they must've changed them.

From what I understand from searching when the ones that look different from the OEM are the cheap chinese made ones and should be avoided.
