Default confused about my starter on 02 jaguar s type 4.0

Hey enthusiasts recently I purchased an 02 stype 4.0 with 127 thou miles. It's the older variety with the cassette player on the radio. When I purchased the vehicle the battery was dead, the gentleman who I purchased from had one of those large battery chargers, we hooked it up and after about fifteen minutes of charging got it to turn over and start with the charger cables still attached. Drove it home with no issues aside from the back tires flying around on the freeway. Got it in my Carport and ever since it hasn't turned over, no crank. Replaced battery after finding out the old one had a dead cell, replaced the 175 amp megafuse beside the back trunk fusebox, starter relay, fuses associated with the starter and still nothing. (Maybe I'm missing some fuse?) Cleaned terminals for the power post and the ones right beside the starter, when I turn it over I get a click coming from the passenger side fuse box relay. The park light in the center console stays on when I connect the battery. Any and all help would be appreciated!

What is the battery voltage across the terminals when measured with a voltmeter?

Welcome to the forum.

Is your replacement battery new? Before doing anything else, make sure the battery is fully charged. Even if brand new, a battery typically isn't fully charged at the time of purchase. I suggest running an automatic charger overnight, something with at least a ten amp output. A trickle charger won't cut it, so don't waste your time.

After charging the battery (notice I keep mentioning that), measure the prestart voltage as previously suggested. Measure directly on the battery posts, not the cable ends. Before starting, you need to see at least 12.6 volts.

For the next steps, you will need a helper. Keep your voltmeter on the battery posts and have you helper turn the key to Start. Under normal conditions, voltage will decrease under the load of the starter, but should not drop below 10.0 volts while the key is held to Start.

Next, please locate relay R15 in the front power distribution box under the hood. Place your finger on the relay. Have your helper once again turn the key to Start. You should feel the relay click, and then again when your helper releases the key. This tells you prerequisites are satisfied and the control circuit is sending the command for the starter to run.

Please do these three quick tests and report back with the results. Make sure you charge the battery first (Oops, I said it again!...) There is much more we can investigate, but these are the very basics and will direct us where to look next.
