Default Coolant Leak

2005 S Type 4.2 V8
I have a coolant leak that seems to be coming from the back of the motor.
I am trying to find a diagram that shows all the coolant hoses and system but haven't had any luck. Anyone have one of know where to see one?
OR has had the same problem and fixed it??

Thanks B

Is there a way to check that without removing the manifold?

I don't know if there is, but if so, it could be done with a bore scope.
They used to be very expensive and contained expensive lenses and lights.
Today they have a minute camera, contain LEDs and can be had for about 10 $ and show good pictures on the laptop/phone.

I can only marvel at what you can get today.

this is just an example, I have no experience with product or seller

Not really and forget about inspecting anything with the age of the car you need to replace ALL the coolant hoses now. Also be aware the regular 4.2L V-8 has a lot of plastic in the thermostat area and these parts will likely disintegrate when you work on them.

Change the thermostat as well.

We have the factory manual (JTIS) on the forum for free. It has all the information you need. Look at the top of the forum for JTIS.

At this point you should plan;

1. All new coolant hoses
2. Replace thermostat and plastic cooling tower parts.
3. Flush and replace coolant
4. Install new belts since you are in there.

Optional but if it was my car I would add a water pump to the list

The only JTIS software I can find on here is for XP and OLD!
I nearly have the manifold off but some of the connections are foreign to me and not sure how to get them apart.

The two connections here...twist or ???

Squeeze the ribbed portion at the ends (they're 180 degrees apart and opposed) with the thumb and forefinger. Use finger pressure only and it will become egg shaped. The tangs at 90 degrees to the ribbed portions will release then lift off the connector.

Thanks!
How about the line running into the fuel injection bar?

Sometimes you need the special tool or a variation.

The JTIS is old but so are these cars as you don't have a diesel car you can still use it just put the year 2004 and it applies to your car. If you follow the instructions it tells you how to use a program from Windows to make it work on Windows 10.

The cars are 10+ yrs old as the last were made in 2007 of course JTIS is old. If you'd rather pay, you can get newer access to jag's TOPIx. (Not worth it IMO.)

it and the neck of the thermostat housing are the only coolant leaks that will do this. And regardless of which one i always replace both when doing this job

If you can't figure out the JTIS install. There are very cheap PDF disc's on EBay for around $10 that will work too. It's just too cheap to struggle with a repair when you don't have the shop manual.

I use a VM of XP and it's very easy to use but it's up to you.

Got to it. Seems like a pretty flimsy hose to be in such a tough place to get to.
And yes, the crap will be cleaned up perfectly. Thanks for the help!!
As far as the software. Thanks for the link, I just didn't want to sit at a computer when I could be turning a wrench.
