Default coolant leak

so my 03 STR has succumbed to the coolant bottle leak, thing is it only leaks a tiny bit from the heater purge screw, must have over tightened it, can i spread some silicone on the threads to seal it up for now ? or perhaps an appropriately sized ac oring underneath? I'll replace the whole bottle one day but for now it seems a bit excessive for this issue

thanks

paul

Worth a try I'd say, you have nothing to lose.

ah, just a regular o-ring of the correct size should fix it, looks like exceeding the 1nm torque rating, in my case 10 or so nm seems to get the thing distorted and caught in the threads.

I have a coolant leak in my '05 STR and believe it is coming from the component circled in the image below. Can someone tell me what that component is please? Thanks!

Dual climate control valve. They are prone to failure.

If you are looking for a replacement part, please steer clear of no-name units for sale on that famous auction site; they are most likely made by the Sum Ting Wong Parts Manufactory #27 in Flung Dung, China. Stick with OE, or Bosch (which is the OEM). That is, unless you like leaks and replacing parts on a regular basis...
