Question Cruise control cutting in at 70mph

I was driving at 70mph ish on the motorway (freeway) in very heavy wind and rain with the cruise control on when the traction control light flashed on on the dash and the cruise control was canceled, it happened twice in 5 mins and has not happened in 400+ miles since.

Could one of my rear wheels realy have lost traction ?

Could one of them been aquaplaning and caused it ?

I have nearly new branded tyers.

Thanks

I've had the same thing happen on glare ice, so your idea about hydroplaning makes sense.

I've had it happen - very rarely - with 2 different cars and rough patches of road but I (aargh! this was supposed to say: don't) recall it at 70. At first, I kept an eye out in case it kept happening, but thankfully it didn't.

ok, np, i'm still going to put it down to the road surface/conditions, unless it does it again in the dry.

Mine has done it in hilly areas, but that is due to the torque converter issue that the 6speed is known for.
