Everyone, I have now given up all hopes in finding my s type. I've been looking for over a year now. These things are way to rare to find, and the ones I have found are always overpriced by at least 5k and I'm not too surprised at this because the usual jag buyer won't care about spending an extra 5k.

These cars are too hard to find because the people driving them don't want to give them up or sell them. The only other car that comes close to the s type's looks are the cadillac cts.

I am saddened by this,but I am tired of my unconscious mind constantly having dreams at night of me driving my s type with my palm on the wooden gear shifter. The irony is I've already purchased the things I wanted to put on the car, but still... no car. Good luck to all.

 

Here in the U.S. with the perpetually troubled economy (especially in the automotive sector), good deals can still be had if you're willing to stick to your guns and walk away if you can't come close to getting the final price you'd like to have. Are you looking only at Canadian S-Types, or are you considering some reasonably-close U.S. cars as well?

 

Why don't you look in Montreal? There are some here. Also, contact Autos PB and have them find one for you. Or call a Jag dealer and have them source one.

 

It sounds like the OP doesn't have enough money. It happens

I fancied an Aston Martin DB9 but the above is a clue as to why I don't have one.

I can relate to that Ken. Half the fun is the pursuit whether the target is a car or a woman. Then once you have what you have found, another car or woman pops to tempt you. Little wonder why cars are women.

Hey, thanks for those posts of the car ads but I've already seen those. Like I said, those are over priced.

I had come across a 2005 s type 3.0 with 120k on it but did not purchase because it was involved in an accident. asking price was 12k.

I'm only looking for the 2005 model 3.0 and price less than 13k. Please dont tell me this is not the price for them, I have been studying jags for over a year now. I know what the price is, and I also know the inflated prices at the dealerships, that add on the extra 5-10k because its a jag.

 

I believe your price point is realistic. You just have to keep looking, and you have to be prepared to drive a hard bargain when you find one, and walk away if you cannot get the deal you're after. I've always found that the end of the calendar year (Christmas 2010 for you) is the absolute best time to be able to work the deal you want....

 

I don't know about Canada.. But it is well documented that used car prices have been rising rapidly. All the economic downturn has not driven prices down... Increased demand has in fact driven prices up...

Also, used car prices are more driven by what the market will bear...

If I was looking for my car now and had a price cap of 13k, the only ones I would expect to find here in Ohio are the occasional private seller looking to better the trade in offer they got or a 100K plus car...

Hey, well 100k when I say it I am talking about km not miles. miles wise the car should be around 70k miles.

I've seen a couple that are in my price range but they always have something I dont like or are accident cars. I've come across a couple of silver ones but turned them down. to me honestly, if the jag isn't either dark jag green or black or maybe grey i just cant see myself driving it.

i know that bmw's are capable of doing this because a friend of mine once used his key on a car that looked like his and even started it lol.

so, can one jags keys go into another jags and start the car?

 

Here's a red 2005 4.2 V8 for about $10K. Has about 63K miles. May want to check out its history though.
