Default Dccv valve question

Hi I have a 02 s type sport v8 and am having issues with what I think to be the dccv valve. With ac on low and full blast I'm getting somewhat cold air coming out of the drivers side vents only. The passenger side is blowing normal Luke warm air not hot. With the system on hot on both sides it will work as it should. I assume the dccv valve is the culprit. With Ac on all three of my metal heater hoses going to the core are very hot. Was going to check electrical connecters but being a v8 it is very hard to get to so I'm wondering if I should just go ahead and order the new dccv valve? Thanks

Your symptoms do sound like a faulty DCCV to me, but keep in mind that if your DCCV did indeed fail, it could have taken the CCM (Climate Control Module) out with it. So you may need a new DCCV along with having your CCM circuit board properly re-soldered....

Go to jaguarclimatecontrol.com and do some further research before you start ordering any parts....

What could happen to the module? I replaced the valve on my 2000 S-Type and everything was perfect after that.

Sometimes when the DCCV fails, it causes the CCM circuit board to short out. If you pull the board and inspect it carefully, you can often see the burnt traces that have to be re-soldered. This is a well-known problem with these cars. Again, go to jaguarclimatecontrol.com and read up on it....

Thanks for the quick reply, I understand the ccm module could be damaged but is it safe to go ahead and install the new dccv and see what that does? Or will the ccm being damaged ruin the new dccv?

I've never heard of a burnt CCM circuit board ruining a new DCCV. Your A/C symptoms just won't be any different until your have your board repaired....

The good folks at jaguarclimatecontrol.com told me years ago that there are two types of DCCVs: Those that have failed, and those that will fail....

Cool thanks again for your time, I will install the new valve and report back and let you know if the problem is fixed. Would all three heater hoses being hot going to the core cause just the passenger side to be warm or wouldn't I have warm air on both sides?

Please do some studying at jaguarclimatecontrol.com before you order any parts for your car. I'm no expert on this subject, but they are. And they are good about answering any questions that you e-mail to them....

I emailed them my issue and have studied the site just haven't heard back yet. I went ahead and ordered the dccv since it will probably need replaced somewhere down the line if not as soon as I get it.

Have you changed the timing chain tensioners etc? Your engine is on borrowed time if not!

No on the timing chain tensioners.its alot of work to change them and they make no noise. I have a 02 so they aren't as prone to failure as the 00.

Er... wrong.... At least, I understand it is. They won't necessarily make noise, they just let go when the plastic falls apart.

I understand that the timing chain tensioners are prone to failure. From what I understand they were updated after 00 and I have the 2nd version, which are still prone to failure but not nearly as bad as the 1st version.correct?

They'll fail. The only ones that seem fairly robust are (mainly) metal-bodied.

I understand the 2nd fail as often but I don't know how lucky you're feeling?

Not that lucky, so I should order 2 third gen upper tensioners as soon as possible to avoid this problem? Is this all I will need?
